Internet has been a bit sketchy here. Luckily I have the iphone to stay in touch with the world.
3 days of dyeing with Amy King has been amazing. We have used different techniques, different fibers and lots of different colors. After drying we have spun the fiber using different techniques and then knit those up to see what effects we had achieved. I did get in trouble for farming out my knitted swatches;) I have learned so much about spinning and how each of these fibers takes up color using different styles of applying color. Fibers we used: Coopworth, BFL, Domestic blend, Merino, Corriedale, Silk hankies, Silk brick, Silk top and natural dark Corriedale. A smorgusbord!
Tonight we lay out our work as do each of the other workshops and we talk about what we did and learned as well as getting a chance to see what everyone else has been doing.
Before we leave the Workshop section here are some photos of the week thus far--
gotta run to dinner so more pics later:)
Please feed me more pics of your awesome experience:) I want to see your witch hat he he...
Oh and I simply love listening in to your podcast. Only thing is that it makes me want to call you and talk to you in person:)
I am now dreaming of spinning wheels like the schacht lady bug...Any thoughts... Only thing is I need a bigger house!
