Let's get this new year rolling. In this episode I look back at last year and talk about projects for a new year.
There is a Ravelry group for At the Kitchen Table! I forgot to share the great suggestions Tammy had for yarn/fiber clubs and KAL's in 2009. You will find them in on the group page.
Here are the books I talk about this week
What are you knitting now? Share on the Ravelry group. I'm trying to finish up on the Murray gloves in Cascade 220 (black).
I wanted to share an essay in this podcast, but ran out of time. So I thought I'd copy it here--
The Coffee Shop
I have several letters, articles and essays that need to be written. The ideas are here in my head, but it seems when I am home the creativity of more active doing is what comes to the fore front.
Today I am stranded in Portland. A mudslide keeps me here. I found a cozy coffee shop, sat in the window and sipped at cappuccino while listening to the chatter. All of a sudden I got the urge to write. The outline for my newsletter, letters to two penpals, thoughts for my next podcast. And I'm still going! It's all about the environment you are in. I need outside distractions that force me inside my own head. When I am home with my many projects I can not settle down to write. I love the idea of being alone in a crowd. For some reason a quiet room begs my wandering attention. As does going to a coffee shop with computer or my iphone. today (and I think for many in the future) I need to visit unknown coffee shops with just a pen and a pad of paper. Who knows where it may lead.
